Using the Radio Booths

If you need to know how to use the Radio Booths at 9 Mappin Street, follow the below guide.

Step by Step with Pictures

1 – Put on your headphones and adjust your mic. Remember, the mic is directional, so point the tip of the mic in the direction of your mouth.

2 – Switch on the mic by pressing the red “PGM” button on the track labelled “mic”.

3 – Set your mic level.

4 – Switch on the recording device (the Marantz PMD580, or in Booth 2, the black Denon DN-700R) by pressing the “ON” switch (unless it is already on).

5 – Press “REC” on the recorder, to start recording.

Press Rec to start recording

6 – Press “STOP” to finish recording.

Press stop

7 – If you wish to listen back to your recording, turn off the mic (press the red PGM button on the mixing desk). Then turn on the track labelled “PMD580” (by turning on the red PGM button).

Then press “PLAY/PAUSE” on the PMD580 / DN-700R.

    Do these radio booths have phones in them for making phone interviews?

      Hi Cavan, yes they do.
