It’s now really easy to create 360 panoramic (or photosphere ) images using Google’s Photo Sphere and embed them into a web page.
Here’s one I took in Weston Park, Sheffield:
The above image is linked to Google maps via Google views but you don’t need to use that system. There’s code available such as WebVR-starterkit that can help you integrate these 360 images into most web pages.
These images are equirectangular images which means that they can be wrapped seamlessly around a sphere (just like a flat atlas map) and they can also be produced using a DSLR.
