Keyboard Short Cuts: Premiere Pro

Editing video can be a long process and I find it much easier to use keyboard short cuts for the things I do most often, such as rendering, the razor tool and importing files.

Here are a few of my favourite and most used short cuts:

Space Bar Play / Stop

L play forward, press again for fast forward

K pause

J play backwards, press again for rewind

Left and Right Step back / forward one frame

Mark in point

Mark out point

Selection Tool

Razor Tool

Enter Render

Ctrl + N  New Sequence

Ctrl + I  Import

Ctrl + M  Export

For more shortcuts have a look at Adobe’s website.

I really like to use J, K & L to move through my material. J goes backwards, L goes forwards and K is pause. The more times you press J or L the faster it goes. For example, this can be helpful to listen to an interview at double speed.
